I've been tagged to give five resolutions for the new year... Given a choice, I'd happily skip this exercise, but seeing as how I'm new to AR and still trying to build up street cred, I'll play along! :)
1) Drive Traffic to Move and the Move Blogs. As head of interactive marketing at Move, I'm tasked with driving a lot of consumer traffic to Move over the next year. Needless to say, it is still a mystery to me how I'm going to reach this goal! (Although the success that Danny and Nina are having at attracting attention and driving traffic to their blog is probably a good place for me to look for clues!)
2) Spent quality time with my daughter. Last year, I made an effort to leave work early one day out a week (Tuesdays) and take my 7-year old daughter out for some undivided attention. We'd play cards at a coffee shop (her favorite), go on a hike (my preference), hang out at the playground and/or eat a dinner. With all the work that is going to come my way this year (see resolution #1), I'm will need to ensure that I don't get overwhelmed.
3) Learn more about other parts of the real estate market. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the issues that agents face when marketing themselves online. I need to increase my knowledge about the transaction and also learn about other areas of real estate like the rental market, new home construction and commercial real estate. In particular, I want to learn more about how the players in these areas market themselves. I'm on the lookout for good blogs that cover these markets, so feel free to make recommendations!
4) Give better presents. I did a really crappy job giving presents this past year. I typically have really good intentions, but my follow through is horrible. Any advice on giving better presents to family members would be most appreciated.
5) Take on one major initiative for good. A few years ago I did a team-in-training ride (blog posts from March and April 2003 about the training and photos of the ride) where I was able to get in shape and raise some money for Leukemia research. That felt really good all around and I think I need to do something similar again, although I'm conflicted because I'd also love to take on an environmental initiative at Move. I have lots of ideas swirling around my head for a Move environmental initiative, but I don't feel I've found the "right" one yet. If you have any ideas for what Move (and/or Realtor.com) could do that goes beyond giving out plaques, I'd love to hear your ideas!
I'm sure that this meme won't die if I don't nominate anyone else, so I'm going to create a dead-end and not force any unsuspecting AR participants down the this path!
