Authentic Real Estate Marketing: I've been staged!

Helping real estate professionals generate business by improving their online marketing

I've been staged!

Craig Schiller took the liberty of staging me...

It start (I think) with the misconception that my long hair was hanging down off my left shoulder in my profile picture and he figured it would look better without the distraction.

However, my concern is that what he removed was actually the foundation for a pedestrian/bicycle bridge that is crossing over the Sacramento River.   Aesthetically, I think his new version looks better, but I'm really concerned with all the metaphorical people that are now swimming (without a raft!) down a relatively cold river.

Original (left)     --------------------------------------------   Staged (right)

So now for the ethical issue... Is it better to use the staged photos despite my reservations about helpless people floating down the Sacramento River or the original?

LOL...it took me awhile to notice what was missing! I like long hair so either way works for me :)  Wow...He did a pretty good job with your ear!

The photo to the right is much better. Most people would probably think the foundation is behind your head. The one on the left the foundation takes away or distracts your facial features. When I first saw your profile I wasn't sure if it was a pony tail or not.

Your right ear isn't too bad and if I didn't see the original I wouldn't have noticed it.

Thanks Jay

Yes I agree with Jay - people will just think you are blocking the foundation. Plus, imagining a few swimmers is not a bad thing :-)   I do like long hair but you can't realy see enough of it in the original photo anyway; Craig is usually right anyway! :-)

It seems unanimous so far!  I just switched my profile photo over to the staged version!

I think they're both really bad....

you know, of course, that I am totally kidding!....pictures like this are much more effective and genuine than ones contrived in a studio.

Swimming is healthy!

There's no doubting you there, but it's as good as I get!

But because everyone needs an excuse, you can blame my mom for the lousy photo!  :)

About the people in the river...are they home owners?  Can they qualify for a loan?

kk

P.S. the staged one looks better.  Craig was much nicer to you than me.

I had not noticed the foundation... although I know I had wondered if you had long hair at some point from your picture on RCG.

I like the staged picture. I see the people now on the bridge... had not noticed them.  Watch out  Craig could stage people in the water.

I remember when Craig staged Kristal..... ha ha.. kinda scary.

I hope this bridge doesn't have the same fate as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Our opinion here really doesn't matter. The important question is how quickly can those people run?

OK, for you "staged" looks better. I had mine staged:

LOLOL Jay I think mine would look better if I staged it like that too :-)

Staging makes everything better!  Way to go Dustin!  I like them both!

I think Marci hit it on the head. Staging is about making what is there look just a bit better. We hid the distractions while improving on the features.

Is the picture on the right any LESS you... NOPE!

Stage it forward...

PS: I liked your "pretty" blog so much I linked it to my other blog outside Active Rain. No staging needs to be done there.

Thanks everyone...  I stopped getting the updates to my gmail somewhere down this tread, so I had no idea people were still commenting!  Whoops!

Craig: I noticed the link a little bit ago!    Thanks a bunch!    Any chance you're interested in moving to Seattle? I could really use a stager for a contributor to RCG!  LOL!

Kristal:  Most of the people currently swimming are not likely to be homeowners any time soon.  They are probably teenagers from the wrong side of the track!  The area may be beautiful, but it is a magnet for the "wrong" crowd who use the area to drink beer and smoke dope...   Go figure!

I just did a search, and it looks like I'm the first to say "smoke dope" on ActiveRain!  LOL!

About time you came back LOL   I checked out the Craig link. As for the smoke dope wtg LOL  Although I know weed was a content issue in one of Kristal's posts but maybe not with those two words! Hope you got your email fixed LOL   Good night :-)

Dustin ~ Carole is right, I blogged about legalizing marijuana in Denver awhile back.

It brought in some interesting characters!

No doubt pot can bring in the characters... I can see there is no end to the important topics that have been discussed!

My seller's 'staged' mine during an open house. I don't usually use my photo on fliers. They thought I needed to; so I did! I guess it worked, we sold it 2 days after I made new fliers.
